TOTAL FLUID IMMERSION COMPUTER

As many of you know, I have been working on many different versions of fluid immersed PC's over the years. The most recent, I won't go into detail about as I'm in the patent process for it. Hush Hush!! :-)

The other design is more well known as the military has done it for years and power pole transformers are filled with it. What I'm talking about is transformer oil. It is an Ester based coolant that has a dielectric value of over 50k volts/mm.

And yes, there is now a company that is producing a computer for commercial sale, I knew it wouldn't be long before someone would. They say they have a patent for it, I suppose that's possible, but I believe that it's been public knowledge for a very long time.

I have experimented some with this oil, but since it is basically clean vegetable oil, it goes rancid, biodegrades, and is just generally gross to work with. After that I came across a fluid called Envirotemp FR-3. It is a synthetic version of that same dielectric coolant. It doesn't degrade, smells less, but is still very thick, syrupy and generally difficult to work with.

Then I came across EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) fluid. This is also a dielectric coolant but is much thinner, almost water consistency. It also has less smell, however it is still slightly unpleasant. It also doubles as a very good lubricant, so items such as fans can run immersed and should basically last forever. Should be great to stir to fluid to keep it circulated correctly. EDM Machines are basically "spark cutters" for cutting metal that couldn't be easily cut with traditional methods. Very high dielectric levels are needed for the spark to not jump to other parts of the part to be machined. It also needs to flow exceptionally well. This makes it perfect for a fluid filled PC. I assume they are using a version of this fluid for the commercially available one, however they for sure won't disclose that information.

So anyways, on to my PC, I'll start out by saying I am writing this in the middle of the build so you'll have to bear with me for updates. I'm currently waiting for my video cards to arrive so I can finish the build. So click on the link below to begin Part 1 of my Immersion PC.
